Trekking and rafting in Uganda
Mt Elgon offers 3 trekking trails with no special technical climbing experience required. Everybody can enjoy gorges, ancient caves, waterfalls and spectacular viewpoints. Experience the thrill of rafting grade 5 Nile's rapids. For travellers who love trekking and fun.

Day by day program
Day 1:
In the morning welcome of the travellers at the international airport of Entebbe. Drive to The Haven lodge in Jinja. Lunch. Afternoon with walks and visit to the Source of the Nile. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2:
Day dedicated to relax on the River Nile shores or to many optional activities available to choose from like: horseback riding, rafting, bungee jumping, boat excursions. Dinner and overnight overlooking River Nile.
Day 3:
After breakfast drive to Sipi Falls at the border with Mt Elgon National Park. Lunch and the lodge and afternoon visit to Sipi falls. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Early in the morning trekking on Mt Elgon begins. After a short briefing with park rangers and porters, the Piswa trail begins from Kapwata at 2190 m to reach after 11 km Piswa camp at 2850 m above sea level. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 5: 1020 meters of height difference has to be conquered today with a 16 km walk up to Hunters Cave at 3870 meters. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Day 6: The 3rd trekking day is long and has to be started early in the morning. Walk up to the volcano caldera to descend heading to Mude Cave camp at 3500 m. 14 to 19 km has to be hiked today, accordingly to the paths used, and it takes at least 11 hours of trekking.
Day 7: On the 4th trekking day ascend to Wagagai peak, the highest of Mt Elgon at 4321 m passing through Jackson lake. It takes 9 hours to cover the 18 km return trail. Dinner and overnight at Mude Cave camp.
Day 8: In 5 hours Jackson peak at 4165 m can be conquered! In the afternoon pleasant descend to Sasa River camp at 2900 m in 3 - 4 hours.
Day 9: 6th and last day of hike! After breakfast leave the camp to descend from the volcano and reach Budadiri village at 1250 m passing through the Mudange cliff also called "wall of death". Drive to Lacam Lodge at Sipi Falls. Dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Return to Entebbe and departure of travellers.

Transport using customised vehicle with opening roof; passengers and public liability insurance; full board; driver/guide and armed rangers in the parks when required; 6 porters (each porter can carry up to 18 Kg), food supply for trekking activities and guide on Mt Elgon, all fees for the excursions - activities as stated in the day by day program; all park entrance fees; accommodation as stated; return airport transfers.
Interational flight to and from Uganda; visas if required; personal travel insurance; drinks; tips, laundry, optional activities, extras, personal items and everything not stated in the day by day program.
Take note: trekking on Mt Elgon does not require special technical climbing experience and it is a lot easier than Rwenzori but it is necessary to carry your own tent and be adequately equipped with sleeping bag, mountain boots, trekking shoes, clothes to protect you from the cold, water proof jacket, backpack, gas stoves and cookware.
Travellers are supposed to reach Entebbe on the tour starting day before 8 am and leaving from the same airport at the end of the tour after 8 pm. If these times can't be respected then 1 or 2 days should be calculated for the overnight in Kampala.

Terms and conditions
Bookings: At the moment of booking a deposit of the 40% of the total amount is due. Bookings must be made at least 60 days before the date of departure. O sole mio Ltd reserves the right to don't accept bookings made less than 60 days prior the date of departure.
Full payment has to be made not less than 30 days before the departing date of the tour. If the full amount is not paid in due time, O sole mio Ltd reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled.
Cancellations: 60 days prior to departure date of the tour, full refund of deposit; between 60 and 30 days, refund of 50% of deposit; less than 30 days, no refund.
